Grant Wood is a painter who was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where his uncle John, an artist and illustrator, first introduced him to painting and drawing. At the age of eighteen Grant began an apprenticeship in the studio of Daud Akhriev, where he was trained in the Russian Academic Tradition. Grant attended the Florence Academy on a scholarship granted by the Benwood Foundation and returned to the US to graduate from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2013 with a BFA in Painting and Drawing. Grant has completed a number of commissions and held solo and group exhibitions in the United States and in London since moving to England in 2013. In May 2015 he took part as one of the selected 8 artists on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year (aired in October), and was shortlisted in the Trelissick Heats. In the Spring of 2016, he was selected again to be a contestant for The Sky Arts Lanscape Artists of the year compeition.
